Avery Watson is a graduate from the University of Utah with her bachelor’s degree in music education. She has been playing the cello over a decade and learning and applying string pedagogy for about 5 years. Avery is also training to be a Suzuki Teacher and studying the method. Although her primary instrument is the cello, Avery has performed on many other instruments including double bass, bass guitar, euphonium, clarinet, marching baritone, trumpet, and percussion. Avery recently student taught at Highland High School under the direction of Curtis Black to develop his string orchestra, concert band, and jazz classes. After working with Mr. Black’s Jazz program, Avery developed a new passion for jazz and teaching jazz double bass and bass guitar. Avery is committed to ensuring her students have the best experience in their lessons and advocacy in how and what they learn. Through her studio, her students will develop instrumental and musical skills, form strong practice habits, and experience the joy and benefits of music.
