Barbara Gill’s Singing Time Music Workshop 2026

December 16th, 2025

Day Murray Music is proud to announce that Barbara Gill’s Singing Time Music Workshop is returning January 30th and 31st 2026!

Primary is a place of JOY and can be enriching with a formula for teaching, reviewing, and rotating songs during the month and for the year! Learn techniques and tips from seasoned music leader, Barbara Gill, to making singing time, simply magical and musical.

As a Classically trained musician, Barbara brings her musical knowledge to Primary with the goal of teaching children the gospel through music.

Barbara is certified in Kodaly pedagogy, methodology, and children’s choirs in all three levels and finished in 2024 at Intermuse Academy at Brigham Young University. From 2015-2025, her favorite volunteer gig was directing the Orchard Children’s Choir, a before-school choir. She is currently a co-conductor for the Utah Youth Singers, a community youth choir in Bountiful, Utah. Teaching songs to children has spanned over 20 years including monthly music sessions to kindergarten, first, and second grades at her son’s elementary school.

Barbara’s musical instruction is deeply rooted in training from the University of Utah where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and a Master of Arts in Musicology studying with Barlow Bradford, Gladys Gladstone, and Vedrana Subotic.

Barbara regularly performs and adjudicates in the community. She is the librarian and administrative assistant for Utah Chamber Artists and was a chorister from 1999 to 2014. In 2020 she sang virtually for the 30th Anniversary of the choir. Barbara was the administrative coordinator for the Maurice Abravanel Visiting Distinguished Composers Series, and the marketing assistant for the Virtuoso Series at the University of Utah.

An active member of the Utah Music Teachers Association (UMTA), Barbara is currently vice president of programs for the Davis Chapter. From 2020-2022 she served as the state communications committee chair. Barbara is a past president of the Jordan River chapter and received her Permanent Professional Certified Teacher of Music status from the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) in 2015. Barbara added Let’s Play Music to her studio in 2019. Her piano students participate in a variety of performing experiences including National Federation of Music Clubs festivals, silent film festivals, and monster concerts. Barbara and her husband have three boys and a girl. Her daughter is named after the concert hall where she performed, spent many hours rehearsing, and helps with concerts.
